Create more compelling, dynamic scene work using a physical vocabulary called The Viewpoints: elements of time and space that can be used to infuse depth and specificity into your characters and space work. Using tools such as tempo, architecture, proximity, and gesture, build on your initial ideas and become a more whole-bodied performer!
We will explore and improvise with each of the nine Viewpoints: Tempo, Duration, Kinesthetic Response, Repetition, Spacial Relationship, Shape, Topography, Architecture, and Gesture; plugging them into improvised scene work.
*The Six Viewpoints were initially created by dancer Mary Overlie and expanded to nine by theater artists Tina Landau and Anne Bogart. We will be using Landau and Bogart’s nine Viewpoints.
Taught by Dana Marks.
