Always wanted to do standup? Never wanted to do standup but now that you've seen this class you do? Well now's your time!
Come learn the basics of standup writing and delivery in an environment specifically suited to foster the comedic voices of girls and non-binary folk! Students will craft a three minute standup set culminating in a final show at the PIT-Chapel Hill.
No prior experience necessary!
DAY 1: Standup basics, writing exercises, writing sets
DAY 2: Workshopping material, practicing delivery, preparing for show
DAY 3: Show day!
On the day of the show, students are required to arrive at the theatre 30 minutes prior to show start time.
Ages 13 - 18
This class is open to gender identities underrepresented in comedy, including anyone who identifies as a girl or does not identify with any gender!
Taught by Shea Stanley! Shea Stanley is a standup comedian, actor, and writer for the online satire magazine Reductress. She recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was involved with False Profits comedy group and founded I Just Said That, a comedy group dedicated to providing stage time for underrepresented gender identities. She is good at being tall and bad at cleaning her room.
