Stand-Up 101 (10/18 – 11/29)

Thursday, October 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This class will help you learn the tools necessary for performing stand-up comedy. Taught by PIT Chapel Hill Artistic Director, Will Purpura. This six week course meets on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 starting on 10/18. Class each week with the exception of Thanksgiving (11/22). The final performance will be held at 8:00 after the final class (11/29)

Silence and Emotion Workshop

Silence and emotion are two of the most powerful, and underused, tools an improviser has to work with on stage. This is a new form of improv where the audience directs the actors based on break in points by an on stage director. Jaybird brings twenty-five years experience as an actor and director to this workshop specifically for improv performers.  You’ll practice playing deeply and truthfully rather than going for the big funny. The foundations of Stanislavsky’s action-based ideas and contemporary practitioners (e.g. Keith Johnstone, Mick Napier, TJ & Dave) will be folded into scene work and side-coached as you play.
